Swatch Teams With AOL Time Warner

Media giant AOL Time Warner today announced a “multiyear agreement” with The Swatch Group, the world’s largest manufacturer of wristwatches. Terms of the agreement call for New York-based AOL TW to promote Swatch’s product lines across AOL TW’s online, print and television properties. In return, Swatch will create watches and other devices that will help users access America Online.

The Swatch Group has 18 global brands, including Swatch, Omega, Tissot and Hamilton. The Switzerland-based company has already done limited marketing of a watch known as the Swatch net.invader (product information is located at With a USB-connected receiver, the net.invader watch is able to transmit stored bookmarks to a user’s PC. Future versions of the device will store AOL screen names, keywords and other features.
