Study: Online Shoppers More Satisfied

NEW YORK The Internet is coming into its own as a shopping destination, according to new figures released today.

The findings come from the Top 40 Online Retail Satisfaction Index produced by research company ForeSee Results of Ann Arbor, Mich.

As expected, perenially popular Web destinations such as Amazon, Netflix, L.L. Bean and QVC held their top positions as shoppers’ favorites.

“What’s remarkable is that the leaders are really working hard to remain the leaders,” said Larry Freed, president and CEO of ForeSee Results, in a statement. “The top eight retailers from last season either maintained or improved.”

On a scale of 100, top-rated Web sites included Netflix (86), (84), (80) and (80), followed closely by and Old (both 79). Those slipping included bottom-scorers (69), (69) and (68).

The Top 40 Online Retail Satisfaction Index uses the methodology of the American Customer Satisfaction Index to analyze data collected from visitors to the Top 40 retail Web sites, as defined by sales volume from the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide published in 2006.
