Retailers looking for a little green this holiday season are counting on a boost from new ad efforts created by several Midwest agencies.

Despite strong holiday traffic over the Thanksgiving weekend, when spots began to break, consumer economic confidence remains weak and few retailers expect a ro-bust holiday season.

Pier 1 Imports has brought back actress Kirstie Alley for its holiday campaign from Campbell-Ewald Advertising, Warren, Mich. A 30-second spot features the former Cheers star fumbling her way into helping a consumer pick out gifts from the Fort Worth, Texas-based retailer.

The spot opens on Alley accidentally toppling a Christmas tree and forcing a homeowner to buy new presents.
