ATLANTA Requests for proposals issued by Stein Mart are due today, sources said.

The Jacksonville, Fla.-based discount retailer has completed research defining its target customer and wants to hire an agency to implement a marketing plan aimed at high-end bargain hunters, according to sources.

The account will be handled on a project-only basis. A budget has not been disclosed. In 2001 the retailer spent $14 million in measured media, per CMR, and $13 million from January to November 2002.
