Coffee chains such as Starbucks, Dunkin‘ and Panera were among the hardest hit businesses during the pandemic, with sales of the caffeinated hot beverages decimated as work and school routines were disrupted by lockdowns. But new data provided by Placer.ai, an analytics firm that tracks foot traffic, suggests three leading brands are beginning to recover.

Specifically, the numbers show coffee visits are up on a week-over-week basis since the middle of February. The gains come after declines on a monthly basis, compared to the prior year from March 2020 through February 2021.
