It’s not unusual for media sellers to curry favor with buyers by taking them and their spouses to see a hit Broadway play. It is a bit of a gamble to do so with upfront negotiations getting under way. As MindShare’s Marc Goldstein explains, “We see each other a ton for the week of network presentations, then we all go into caves and don’t come out again until after the upfront.”

The gamble paid off for Henry Schleiff, CEO of Court TV, who took a few dozen top buyers to see The Producers a day after the show snared a record 12 Tony Awards.
