CHICAGO Galyan’s, a sporting goods and apparel chain, recently named Young & Laramore as its strategic marketing partner, an agency executive said.

The Indianapolis shop will handle brand strategy and a new television campaign scheduled to break in August, according to Y&L’s executive vice president Tom Denari.

Billings were undisclosed. The Plainfield, Ind., retailer’s advertising expenditures totaled $10 million in 2002, according to TNS Media Intelligence/CMR.

Galyan’s last known agency was MARC USA/Indianapolis, which won a branding assignment for the retailer in 1998 following a review.
