SMG Names Global Client Chief

NEW YORK Publicis Groupe’s Starcom MediaVest Group has promoted Matt Blackborn to the newly created post of global client services director.

Blackborn will be based in London, overseeing the company’s international client team, tasked with developing a strategy for central client management across global assignments.

Blackborn, most recently CEO of Publicis Groupe Media’s Middle East and North Africa region, will report to Chicago-based Renetta McCann, CEO of SMG Worldwide.

Of Blackborn’s promotion, McCann said, “We are fortunate that we can now tap his expertise to oversee the development and leadership of global assignments, an increasingly vital role for our company. Matt will be fully empowered to deliver the resources that the clients need around the world and fully accountable to ensure that we are delivering the best talent and resources to every challenge and opportunity.”

Added Blackborn, “Having gained both international and operational experience, it is a natural step to move into a global role inside SMG, and I am excited by the challenge that this new opportunity presents.”

Succeeding Blackborn as head of the MENA region is Mike Readman, who will be based in Dubai, UAE. Readman’s experience includes stints as global head of media at Cereal Partners Worldwide and COO of the Europe, Middle East and Africa region at Interpublic’s Universal McCann.
