Slingshot Presents Valiant Yachts in Print

DALLAS Slingshot breaks its first advertising for Valiant Yachts in March periodicals.

The print campaign will run throughout 2004 in publications such as Sail Magazine, Blue Water Sailing, Ocean Navigator and Cruising World.

The Dallas shop is the first agency for the Gordonville, Texas-based client. Slingshot has been working with the high-end sailboat maker since last April, according to shop creative director David Coats.

“We’ve mainly been talking strategy up until this point,” Coats said. “They haven’t done any branding advertising before, so we thought this would be a fun opportunity to show off a great, iconic brand.”

The single ad features a large sailboat gliding through picturesque waters. “She’ll look even better double-reefed in a Force 10 gale” is the tag.

Valiant, which caters to “middle-aged men with discretionary income,” according to Coats, closely competes with rival boat builders Island Packet and Hinckley.

Billings are undisclosed. The client will handle media.
