Startup Lands Casino’s $15 Mil. Account
LOS ANGELES–Taking aim at Las Vegas’ vast hospitality, gaming and entertainment industry, newly formed SKS Advertising has bagged a lion, so to speak–the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino’s $15 million account.
Named for principals John Schadler, Jerry Kramer and Mike Salisbury, the Las Vegas agency prevailed over local roster shop The Merica Agency. The account had previously been with Young & Rubicam, San Francisco.
“We wanted more local experience,” said client svp of sales and marketing Chuck Bowling. “[SKS] understood Las Vegas, understood the entertainment business and really had the creative background to put together something outstanding.”
Schadler is a former vp of advertising for Mirage Resorts. Kramer was president of L.A. production house Mesmerize Studios. Salisbury has run his own shop and also served as creative director at agencies including Foote, Cone & Belding and Young & Rubicam.
“Hospitality, gaming and entertainment is going to be our focus, but we hope to attract a broader client roster,” Schadler said. The agency is currently doing projects for, he said.
With an office in Phoenix, the shop is hoping to attract business in Arizona and California as well, Schadler said.
The MGM Grand has undergone almost $500 million in renovations in the past two years. A full campaign targeting leisure travelers and business segments is slated to break by March 1, said Bowling.
