Skinny Legs And All

Marine life, by its very nature, is not particularly funny. But Fotouhi Alonso Associates posits a humorous side to the underwater world in a print campaign for the newly opened Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific.
One print ad (shown here) offers the aquarium’s six-foot-wide Giant Japanese Spider Crab as “proof you can be popular even with an ugly face, skinny legs and no personality.” Another invites readers to visit the institution’s sex-changing fish.
The Los Angeles shop won print duties on the account several months ago. Lyon Studios in Newport Beach, Calif., created a TV spot. Media is being placed by The Media Department in Costa Mesa, Calif.
Opening weekend at the $110 million facility in Long Beach, Calif., earlier this month drew nearly 12,000 people a day–more than one human for every marine creature. –Angela Dawson
