Sive/Y&R Restructures To Generate More Integrated Client Management

Sive/Young & Rubicam has restructured its account management operations and added several new top executives.
The structural changes, announced by president and chief executive officer Dale Brown, are intended to better align the Cincinnati agency’s management with its philosophy of integrated marketing.
“We’ve always focused on integration of disciplines as our approach to the business,” Brown said. “This new team-oriented structure will allow those disciplines to function together more smoothly, to the benefit of the agency and its clients.”
Four core account teams have been established, replacing and absorbing what had been separate account management, public relations and direct response departments. Promoted to directors of three of the four teams were Karen Bell, formerly director of account management; Jim Mitchell, management supervisor; and Carole Roper, director of public relations.
Joining the agency as a vice president and group account director to head the fourth team is Cary Dice, previously a senior vice president, general manager and partner at HMS Partners in Cincinnati.
“This will flatten the organization, eliminating a layer [of management],” Brown said. “I think it will increase the responsiveness to our clients and the empowerment [of the account teams].”
Additionally, Brown announced that Michael Kitei, the agency’s executive vice president and creative director, is taking on the additional role of general manager for its Small Talk division, which specializes in marketing to children. Kitei succeeds David Siegel, who left the agency.
Susan Clear, who previously headed her own marketing services company and earlier was a brand manager at Drackett Co., has joined Small Talk as director of planning and research. Mary Fox was named its research director.
