Sunglass Hut in Coral Gables, Fla., has placed its advertising account in play.
The client said it plans to spend approximately $5 million next year, but some of that money would be allocated for public relations and other efforts. Thus, the entire budget will not go to the winning advertising agency.
Sunglass Hut’s account is currently at Crispin Porter & Bogusky in Miami, which has been invited to participate in the review. Also asked to pitch were Harris Drury Cohen in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; HMS Partners in Miami; Ogilvy & Mather in Atlanta; and WestWayne in Tampa, Fla. The latter agency also has an office in Atlanta.
The shops will be asked to present spec creative as a condition of the review.
According to a Sunglass Hut official, the agencies will be visited by the client for presentations and a decision is expected in the next 60 days. –Jim Osterman
