Schwab to Play Through With Pickett

LOS ANGELES Pickett Advertising has won a creative and media assignment to promote the Charles Schwab Cup Championship, the agency said.

The San Francisco shop won the business following a review of undisclosed Northern California agencies, said Billy Petersen, executive director for the Charles Schwab Cup Championship.

Billings were undisclosed. Pickett will create radio, TV, print, outdoor and online ads, as well as collateral. The campaign is expected to break in mid to late August, said Pickett president Jack Boland. Work will appear in the San Francisco Bay Area and in Sacramento, Calif.

Third Degree Advertising in Oklahoma City handled advertising for last year’s golf tournament, said Petersen.

One reason for Pickett’s selection was its understanding of the sport and golf promotions, Petersen said. The shop previously worked with clients such as Cobra Golf and Dockers golf apparel, said Boland.

The Charles Schwab Cup Championship is the last stop on the Champions Tour, formerly known as the Senior PGA Tour. The annual event will take place this year in Sonoma, Calif., on Oct. 21-26.

Pickett’s client roster includes Longs Drugs, the Oakland Raiders, Infineon Raceway, California YMCA, E-Loan and Debt Free.
