Schmidt Gains Stake in Gordet Advertising

ATLANTA Stephen Gordet Associates, an independent agency in Miami, has added a partner and changed its name, the shop said.

Ron Schmidt has acquired an equity stake in the agency, which now is named Gordet & Schmidt Advertising and Public Relations. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Schmidt, 31, has been with the shop since 2002.

Schmidt will manage the agency’s media and Yellow Pages departments and supervise all its Internet marketing. Gordet remains president and creative director.

Since arriving three years ago, Schmidt has increased the shop’s Yellow Pages business from about 10 percent of total billings to about 50 percent, he said. He declined to disclose billings, but said that figure has increased at least 300 percent in the past three years. The number of employees has doubled to 22 during that time, Schmidt said.

“Ron has been a key contributor to this agency since the day he joined,” Gordet said. “He helped build this agency and has been a major force in expanding our services.”

Schmidt said he plans to continue expanding the shop’s Internet assignments. The agency provides online marketing projects for Novartis, Barnes & Noble, CitiFinancial, 3M, Vespa and the Florida Council on Compulsive Gambling.

“The emergence of digital media over the past five years has been driving the force behind the agency to provide a full range of Internet marketing services as well as traditional advertising and public relations,” Schmidt said.
