Saatchi Strategy Chief Departs

NEW YORK Kevin Dundas, worldwide strategy director at Publicis Groupe’s Saatchi & Saatchi, is leaving the agency after seven years. His post will likely be filled internally.

Dundas, 44, worked out of Saatchi’s London office. He joined in 1999 as executive planning director, rose to office CEO in 2003 and became worldwide strategy director as 2005 began.

Dundas’ shift to the global role coincided with the hiring of former Red Cell co-CEO Lee Daley as chairman and CEO of Saatchi’s U.K. Group.

As worldwide strategy chief, Dundas reported to worldwide CEO Kevin Roberts.

Roberts, who disclosed Dundas’ exit internally on Friday night, is expected to fill the post shortly. Roberts could not be reached today but in a Friday staff memo, wrote, “I will advise you within the next week of how we will run and structure the planning function moving forward.”

The global strategy role involved regular travel, and after more than 20 years in the industry, Dundas said it was time for a break. “I’m traveled out,” he said today.

A Saatchi representative declined further comment.

Before Saatchi, Dundas held senior posts at Foote, Cone & Belding in San Francisco, where he worked from 1995 until 1999, and Saatchi in San Francisco, where he served from 1993-95.

Earlier in his career, the planner spent four years in the London office of Young & Rubicam.
