Rockland Trust today awarded its $2-3 million ad account to Clarke Goward following a review.

The Boston shop overcame crosstown rival Partners & Simons and Providence, R.I.’s Duffy & Shanley in a battle of independent agencies. Incumbent Pierce-Cote, Osterville, Mass., did not defend. Pile and Co., Boston, oversaw the review process.

Rockland has 52-branches and more than $2 billion in total assets, and is looking for Clarke Goward to support its planned expansion in Massachusetts, where it faces stiff competition from regional companies like Compass Bank and national players such as FleetFinancial and Citizens Bank.
