The Richards Group has reached a settlement with Tabloid News Services, which last year accused the agency of stealing a “talking ham sandwich” from its Web site.
The Dallas shop had used an animated sandwich in a series of television spots for the Florida Department of Citrus. Tabloid News in San Francisco claimed that character infringed upon its prior use of a talking sandwich in its “Vodka City” serial on Tabloid.net. The company also claimed it had traced several visits to its Web site to Richards employees.
A statement issued by Tabloid News says both parties “independently created their respective characters” and expressed regret for allegations against Richards.
