Red’s Schuster Joins Doremus

Doremus has hired a former top executive at Red to help the shop’s clients find new ways of marketing themselves digitally.

Laurie Schuster (shown) spent nearly two years at Red in New York, where she was director of digital strategy. She oversaw the redesign of the organization’s Web site and helped Red raise money to combat AIDS in Africa via communication channels such as blogs, social media sites and e-mail.

Her position at Omnicom Group’s Doremus — head of digital strategy for the New York office — is new. She works across all departments and clients and reports to New York managing director Howard Sherman, who’s also worldwide president.

“It’s more of a strategic planning job,” Sherman said, when asked to describe the role. “We need somebody to keep us on the forward edge” of digital marketing.

Clients of the shop, known for its business-to-business marketing, include Knight Capital Group, Russell Investments, Office Depot and Quintiles.

Schuster, who before Red was an account director at Atmosphere BBDO in New York, said, “I would really like to be a change agent here.”

Earlier in her career, the 43-year-old executive was a marketing manager at Digitas, where her clients included American Express, FedEx and IBM. She worked at the agency’s Boston location before moving to New York when an office opened there.
