After slaving over a hot oven since 1998, part-time inventor Matthew Griffin finally scored some brownie points courtesy of Visa’s “Ideas Happen” contest. Griffin, 30, designed the “Baker’s Edge,” a pan with a maze-like bed that allows every piece of a baked product to be an edge—no middles! The culinary marvel landed Griffin among a dozen Visa-selected young innovators (the other submissions ranged from a Third World health-awareness video to non-splash bathmats), each of whom received $25,000 to support their projects.
