Rational Software Victory Eases A&G’s Sybase Loss

Allen & Gerritsen has picked up creative chores for Rational Software, a provider of tools used by programmers to ensure that their applications work as planned.
The Watertown, Mass., shop was selected after a review that included Wickersham Hunt Schwantner in Boston, a client official said.
A&G supplants Matzell Richard & Watts, Boston, which had handled creative duties. Carat Freeman in Newton, Mass., continues to handle media chores. Spending by the Lexington, Mass., client is believed to be in the mid-seven figures.
The win comes at an opportune time for 55-person A&G, which a month ago lost Sybase, one of its largest accounts and laid off several employees. Winning Rational “helps. No question,” said agency president Paul Allen. –David Gianatasi
