A surreal short film for Beats by Dre stars a chatty drone with a jealous streak, Compton-born rapper Vince Staples and an “incessantly composed” retail maven, along with dialogue like this: “The root of pi is the root of life.”

“Home Sweet Home,” which clocks in at just under 2 minutes, promotes a limited-edition Beats Studio Buds collaboration with pioneering streetwear store Union in Los Angeles.

The Beats product, for the first time since its June debut, has gotten a co-branded makeover with a red, black and green design, inspired by the Pan-African flag and paying tribute to Union as a Black-owned business.
