Quintet Joins Trumpet’s Playlist

The fledgling Trumpet Advertising here, established by the displaced principals of bankrupt Bauerlein Advertising of New Orleans, has added five new accounts that total approximately $2 million in annual billings.
“In each case, the clients had seen our work and were attracted to us because of it,” said Jim Gradl, co-founder of the 11-month-old shop.
The account acquisitions bring billings at the 12-person agency to $5 million.
New to the shop’s client roster are Lee Michaels Jewelers, a chain of seven stores spread over three states; regional project work for the American Cancer Society; children’s retailer Pippin Lane; the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra; and Laboratory Specialist Inc.
Baton Rouge, La.-based Lee Michaels, which had used Diane Allen Associates in Baton Rouge, La., for more than a decade, had been accepting proposals from other agencies when it saw Trumpet’s recruitment campaign for the New Orleans Police Department. Trumpet was contracted to create image advertising to revitalize the sale of the retailer’s jewelry brands in markets throughout Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.
Trumpet will create an educational campaign aimed at schoolchildren and their parents for the American Cancer Society. The series, which will be tested here in September, will also be reviewed for possible national use, Gradl said.
Pippin Lane signed the shop to promote its grand opening in the French Quarter here this fall.
The Louisiana Philharmonic of New Orleans tapped Trumpet to create image advertising to expand its subscription base. The orchestra has not had an agency of record in recent years.
New Orleans-based Laboratory Specialist, a nationwide leader in forensic and substance abuse testing, talked to other undisclosed agencies before hiring Trumpet. The shop will develop a national positioning campaign.
