The sometimes awkward mating game played out between animators and advertising agencies has drawn the attention of an upstart dot-com intent on playing matchmaker.

Dreamspan.com has planted its flag in the hopes of serving as a go-between that can offer agencies access to hundreds of animators while also, as an online entertainment channel, giving exposure to artists around the world.

The Santa Monica, Calif., company’s two founders (shown here) are animation veterans Andy Schachtel, president of commercial production company 5X Faster, also in Santa Monica, and Beth Hall, executive director of the Short Attention Span Film & Video Festival, which showcases films less than two minutes long.
