PwC Puts Its Trust in Wecal

NEW YORK David Wecal, former executive creative director at Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos in New York, has begun work as U.S. managing director for PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he will oversee marketing, communications and public relations.

Wecal, 45, led the PricewaterhouseCoopers account at Hill, Holliday, where he most recently developed the firm’s “Stand and be counted” campaign, which addresses the scandals facing the accounting profession and included TV spots that stressed the importance of personal integrity and public trust. Wecal left the shop in March.

Hill, Holliday is the accounting firm’s U.S. agency of record, a firm representative said.

“I chose to come to PwC because I had during my time at Hill, Holliday developed a great appreciation of the firm. It has been one of the most rewarding experiences I had in my career,” Wecal said through the representative.

“This is an important time for the profession and for America. We plan to continue the conversation we had started earlier this year about building public trust,” Wecal said.

The advertiser has also hired Ian Duncan, 40, to be U.S. director of marketing. Duncan will manage U.S. marketing programs, advertising and sponsorships. He was previously senior vice president of global marketing for the $3 billion treasury services business of Bank of America Corp. in New York. Duncan developed a global marketing and sales strategy for BofA’s large corporate client base.
