Sanofi-Synthelabo, maker of insomnia drug Ambien, last week hired Paris-based Publicis for global communications chores. The global budget is $245 million, and the contract is for three years, the client said in a statement. Work had been split among shops at several holding companies. Publicis bested two other finalists: Paris-based Havas and London-based WPP, sources said.
