CHICAGO Publicis Groupe has acquired a majority stake in Chinese retail and promotional marketing agency Yong Yang, the holding company confirmed.

Once the deal receives Chinese regulatory approval, the Chengdu-based agency will be aligned with Leo Burnett company Arc in Greater China. Publicis Groupe last year acquired control of Shanghai-based Betterway Marketing Solutions. In all, the company has 79 offices in 33 cities across China.

“China continues to be of absolutely critical importance to Publicis Groupe,” said chairman and CEO Maurice Lévy, in a statement.
