Publicis Appoints Leader on P&G

NEW YORK Publicis has named Katie Bury evp, worldwide account director on its Procter & Gamble Family Care brands business.

Bury arrives from sibling agency The Kaplan Thaler Group, where she led that shop’s Pfizer account, which includes brands such as Celebrex, Lyrica and Exubera. She has previously worked on P&G accounts at Leo Burnett and D’Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles.

The Family Care portfolio includes brands such as Charmin, Bounty and Puffs tissues. All told, P&G spent nearly $160 million on ads for those brands last year, per Nielsen Monitor-Plus. Publicis also handles some P&G healthcare brands, including Vicks Dayquil and Nyquil.

Bury, who will lead the account alongside ecd David Corr, takes the reins from Angela Pasqualucci, who becomes global business leader for the Oral-B account. In April, P&G assigned all marketing duties on its Oral-B brand—from advertising to public relations to product design—to the Publicis Groupe, parent of Publicis Worldwide. P&G spends about $65 million annually advertising the Oral-B brand.

“I am delighted to have Katie here with us at Publicis to lead our important P&G Family Care business,” said agency chairman and CEO Susan Gianinno. “I have worked with Katie in the past, and I am confident she will bring the right blend of leadership and innovative thinking to help grow the businesses and keep them ahead competitively.”
