Asbury Communications in Beverly Hills hired Melissa Kellogg as director of marketing, a new post. She will lead Asbury’s new marketing- services division and will supervise and coordinate activities that include publicity, promotion, advertising and live-events production. Kellogg previously was a marketing specialist at Trotta Associates in Marina del Rey, where she worked with clients such as McDonald’s, Nike and Mattel.

Jeff Browe was promoted to vice president, account director at Wunderman in Irvine. He will work on the Jaguar and Land Rover accounts. Browe replaces Dan Olson, who was appointed managing director of Wunderman in June. Most recently, Browe was vice president, management supervisor. He began his career at Young & Rubicam in Detroit in 1996, working on Lincoln Mercury advertising and collateral. Browe later handled relationship-marketing work on Lincoln Mercury and helped transition the business to Irvine in 1998.

The National Association of Television Program Executives appointed Trisha Zarin marketing manager. She will be responsible for overseeing NATPE’s online marketing strategy, including Web site development and online services, trade-advertising agreements, marketing communications, and developing and writing direct mail pieces. She reports to Beth Braen, senior vice president of marketing at NATPE in Los Angeles. Zarin previously was a marketing and project manager at George Elkins Mortgage Banking Co. in Los Angeles.


Herb Emanuelson, an account supervisor at independent Adams & Knight, was named president of the Connecticut Advertising Club’s 2003-04 board of directors. He has been a member of the board for three years and will oversee planning and development for numerous club events throughout the year, including the annual awards show in May. During his four years at Avon-based Adams & Knight, Emanuelson has overseen work for clients such as ING, New England Financial, Data Becker Software and the United Way of the Capital Area.


C.O.D. promoted Julio Rodriguez to account director. He will be responsible for the Coral Gables shop’s Volkswagen of America, SunTrust and May Stores accounts. Rodriguez joined C.O.D. as an account supervisor in 2002.


Ann Rubenstein, executive producer at DDB in Chicago, was named a vice president. Rubenstein has led production on Pep Boys, McDonald’s, Tyson Foods and Johnson & Johnson. In addition, DDB Chicago named Becky Ruff a vice president. Ruff, manager of broadcast production, joined DDB in 1994 as a producer.

Mediaedge:cia in Chicago elevated Kim Morse from communications analyst to communications manager. Morse’s clients include Jim Beam Brands, Barilla Pasta and Sauce, Northwestern Memorial Hospital and United Air Cargo. Morse has been at Mediaedge:cia for three years.


New Orleans-based Keating Magee enlisted Mary Richardson as media auditor. Richardson, a recent graduate of the University of New Orleans, will manage billing operations for clients such as Cox Communications and Tribune Television.

Zehnder Communications hired Tanga Winstead and David Laxton IV as account executive and account coordinator, respectively. Prior to joining the New Orleans shop, Winstead was director of marketing at Audubon Aquarium of the Americas, also in New Orleans. Laxton is a recent graduate of Louisiana State University.


Via in Portland promoted Scott Thomas to associate creative director, handling creative for an array of the agency’s clients. Since joining the shop earlier this year, Thomas has been senior art director. He also has held art-director posts with Harpell in Maynard, Mass.; Wickersham Hunt Schwantner in Boston; and The Wolf Group in New York. Via also elevated Vaughn Misail to associate creative director. In the new post, Misail will oversee creative on a variety of accounts. He joined Via earlier this year as senior copywriter. Previously, Misail held creative posts at Harpell in Maynard and O’Neill Griffin in Manchester, N.H.


Carton Donofrio Partners hired two staffers and transferred one employee. Cara Waterhouse joined the Baltimore shop as print production manager. She formerly was production director at Cyphers Agency in Annapolis. Kevin Murphy was named digital production manager. He comes to the agency from Brann Worldwide in Baltimore, where he was senior art director. Stephanie Simpson moved from account leader to project director of operations.


GCI Group named Robert Valdmanis president of GCI Canada. He will replace Nancy Croitoru, who is leaving this month after 20 years at the firm to become CEO of the Food and Consumer Products Manufacturers of Canada. Valdmanis, who will be based at GCI’s Canadian headquarters in Toronto, previously was a principal at the Dilenschneider Group in New York. GCI Group is based in New York.

Paul Whitney joined Streetblimps as vice president of strategic planning. Whitney, 32, most recently served as a senior account executive at Insite Advertising in New York. Streetblimps, based in Richmond Hill, also has offices in Chicago and Los Angeles.


Inferno added two staffers. Kelley Milligan, copywriter, comes to the Memphis shop from Big Brothers and Sisters, also of Memphis. Richard Fudge was named design production artist. Prior to joining Inferno, Fudge was assistant art director at crosstown shop Signature Advertising.


T3 hired Donna Graham as lead production manager for its Dell account. Before joining the Austin shop, Graham worked as a senior production manager at Rapp Collins in Irving. T3 also hired Jesse Dawson, A.J. Lee and Jeff McAllister. Dawson, a recent graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, becomes a quality assurance specialist. Lee and McAllister were employed as interactive designers. Lee previously was a senior designer at Austin’s OliveDesign, while McAllister worked as a senior Web designer at ResCare Premier in San Marcos.


Lee Schmidt joined Stephan & Brady in Madison as creative director. He has held posts at Minneapolis shops Charleston Orwig, Martin/Williams and Schmidt Dalton. As creative director, Schmidt will work on Echo, Penda Truck Accessories and Manitowoc Ice, among others. The agency also hired DaryInn Choles as senior art director. Choles formerly worked at Hoffman York in Milwaukee and BBDO in Chicago and freelanced at various shops.
