BOSTON — Pro Media on Tuesday cut 8 employees, approximately 10-15% of the independent agency’s staff, according to chief executive Nancy Ryan.

Among those losing their jobs in the across the board layoff was Don Carlin, chief operating officer and one of Ryan’s top lieutenants. Carlin did not immediately return calls. Pro Media lost buying chores for Staples’ estimated $50 million broadcast account in January to Grey’s MediaCom, New York, but Ryan said this week’s cuts were not directly related to that departure.
