Popeyes’ First Facebook Live Is Giving Away Its New Fried Boneless Wings

The chain is celebrating National Fried Chicken Day

Fast-food brands have had a lot of fun this summer with their first Facebook Live broadcasts: McDonald's created burger-inspired art with a Bob Ross lookalike; IHOP livestreamed pancakes on a beach and now, Popeyes is entering the fray by hosting its first Facebook Live in honor of National Fried Chicken Day.

The Facebook Live event, dubbed "Popeyes Live Drive-Thru Bash," will include two livestreams this afternoon. The set will be built to resemble a Popeyes drive-thru, and an improv actor and musician will host the video, answering fans' questions in real time and asking trivia questions. Viewers also can enter for a chance to win free deliveries of Popeyes' new fried boneless wings, which the Facebook Live event is helping to promote.

"The platform allows the entire country to celebrate National Fried Chicken Day with us," said Hector Munoz, Popeyes' CMO. "This event is about reaching out to our fans wherever they are, and it's an opportunity to really connect with them."

The event is also a fun way to bring the drive-thru experience directly to consumers on social media, said Tom Hamling, group creative director at GSD&M, which developed the campaign for Popeyes. "It's a cool way to use the medium, and it's an interesting way for Popeyes to engage with fans and attract new ones," he said.
