If the chicken wars that have raged for two years at America’s fast food restaurants are over, who won?

Popeyes stops just short of claiming an outright victory, but its massively successful chicken sandwich launch of 2019 looms large in the campaign for its new nuggets, available nationwide starting today.

In short, the hard-fought battle is finished, according to Popeyes. And the brand is declaring a truce with its myriad competitors, including those who rushed into the chicken sandwich space to compete with Popeyes’ hit sandwich and those who revamped their existing products to survive the increasingly competitive environment.

The olive branch that Popeyes is extending includes a giveaway of the equivalent of 1 million nuggets—both its own and competitor products—to the Second Harvest Food Bank in New Orleans.
