BOSTON Independent RDW Group said it has promoted Jim Pontarelli to president.

Pontarelli, who has served as the shop’s director of account services, succeeds Mike Doyle, a founding partner of RDW, who will assume the role of chairman at the Providence, R.I.-based agency.

Doyle takes that title from another founding partner, Tom Walsh, who becomes vice chairman.

Dante Bellini, an RDW partner who directs account service and new business, will now serve as executive vice president.
