Poetic License

April is National Poetry Month– and Magnetic Poetry has recruited Volkswagen of America to help celebrate.
A “Catch the Poetry Bug” publicity program will send three New Beetles–covered with magnetic word tiles–to at least 100 schools, parks and hospitals in 30 cities throughout the country to promote “creative word play.”
The so-called “interactive vehicles” will be driven by EMTs (emergency metaphor technicians), who will help inspire poetry outbreaks at sites along the tour, test kids for poetry in their hearts and write prescriptions for reading.
For its part, VW executives point to the importance of poetry to previous Beetle generations.
The promotion is being orchestrated by Kohnstamm PR, Magnetic Poetry’s public relations shop in St. Paul, Minn.
The Eastern route of the tour kicks off March 30 in Boston.
