Pizza Co-op Assigns Media to Luckie

ATLANTA Luckie & Co. said it has been selected, without a review, to provide media planning and buying for the Huntsville, Ala., cooperative of Papa John’s Pizza restaurants.

There was no incumbent. The co-op was formed late last year to represent 14 restaurants in Huntsville and the surrounding area.

“Forming a co-op was the logical next step for our restaurants in the area,” said Tom Vanlandingham, president of the co-op and operating director for Gaunce Management, which owns nine of the 14 restaurants in the area. “Papa John’s corporate provides us with a nice level of television exposure, but adding local dollars allows us to complement that schedule in an effective way.”

This is the second co-op and third group of Papa John restaurants for which the independent Birmingham, Ala., shop provides media planning and buying. The shop also handles media services for the 27 restaurants in the Birmingham co-op and the 13 locations operated by QS America in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Media spending by the Huntsville co-op was not disclosed.
