Pierson Lures Wittry From Boston Market

Denver shop Pierson Hawkins has hired a former Boston Market senior marketing executive to head up its business and client services unit.
Edmund Wittry, a 17-year marketing executive, joined the 24-person shop as director of client services, a post that had been vacant for several months. Wittry most recently served as senior director, marketing, at the financially troubled restaurant chain, based in Golden, Colo.
“We’ve had our eye on him for quite some time,” said Bill Pierson, agency principal and chief executive officer. “With what’s been happening at Boston Market, we felt the time was right to lure him away.”
Wittry said he hadn’t been looking to leave Boston Market, but decided to join Pierson Hawkins because of the shop’s growing reputation. “I’ve known [creative services director] John Murphy for 15 years, and he has always spoken highly of this group,” Wittry said. “Pierson Hawkins has an incredible desire to be a world-class agency producing high-quality creative. … I want to be part of that.”
While at Boston Market, Wittry headed national field marketing, which included duties such as directing national promotions and developing a national marketing calendar. Prior to that, he worked as a senior division marketing director for Pizza Hut, and has also worked on restaurant accounts on the agency side.
Wittry’s experience is already being utilized on projects for two undisclosed national clients.
Pierson Hawkins, founded five years ago by Pierson and Brian Hawkins, has billings of approximately $15 million. Its client roster includes Norwest Banks, U S West Dex, Davis & Shaw furniture retailers, Avid bicycle components and MCI.
