The Phelps Group Lands Piece Of Warner Bros. Licensing Work

LOS ANGELES – Warner Bros.’ consumer products licensing division has tapped The Phelps Group to assist in advertising, promotions, trade events and direct marketing for the company’s licensed brands, after a review involving undisclosed shops. Billings are estimated at $3-5 million.
The brands include Looney Tunes, Batman and Superman, Cartoon Network properties including Scooby Doo and classic properties such as the Wizard of Oz.
“We’re delighted to be working with one of the world’s best-known names in consumer products,” said Joe Phelps, the Los Angeles agency’s chief executive officer. “It’s a strong validation of our integrated marketing communications capabilities.”
Warner Bros. executives could not be reached for comment. Incumbent agency The Velocity Group (formerly Meade Ullman Advertising) in Sherman Oaks, Calif., did participate in the review.
The win puts the agency’s annual billings at more than $40 million. Its other major clients include Petco, Countrywide Home Loans, Barbeques Galore, Bushnell, Roland Corp., Smart & Final and Hughes Communication Satellites.
