NEW YORK Procter & Gamble said it has settled its pending lawsuit with Vidal Sassoon, heading off a planned October trial in federal court. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

P&G still owns the rights to the Vidal Sassoon name, which the designer and hair stylist had wanted back. “We have a game plan to grow the brand wherever we can … We are looking at all different options and channels and we need to find the right place for it,” said a P&G representative.
