Christopher J. Fra-leigh’s experience in field marketing will be key in his new role as executive director of corporate market-ing and advertising at General Motors, a representative for the auto-maker said.

Fraleigh, known as “C.J.,” joins the Detroit car maker from the Pepsi-Cola Co.’s Purchase, N.Y., headquarters, where he was vp of marketing-colas, responsible for all marketing, advertising and business activities for Pepsi’s trademark brands.

Fraleigh, whose position is new, reports to John Middlebrook, GM vp and general manager, vehicle brand marketing and corporate advertising.

Fraleigh is expected to lead GM’s continuing efforts to integrate its national marketing with regional and local dealer-oriented efforts, said GM representative Peg Holmes.
