Online payment systems brand PayPal has begun to make organizational changes to streamline certain parts of its business, and it’s already causing a ripple effect. According to a statement from the fintech brand, CMO Allison Johnson has stepped down from the company due to this shift.

The restructuring will “reduce complexity, simplify our process and better align with our customers” as PayPal “moves into the next phase of its journey,” the statement said. Part of these modifications included streamlining the marketing department under one cohesive function, which reportedly prompted Johnson to pursue other opportunities.
