Music streaming service Pandora today announced it has hired Brad Minor to serve as its vp, head of brand marketing and communications, a newly expanded role at the company. Minor will work at both Pandora’s Oakland, Calif., headquarters and its New York offices.

The announcement comes weeks after news broke that SiriusXM planned to acquire Pandora in a $3.5 billion deal. Part of Minor’s responsibilities as brand marketing vp will be to shape the brand’s identity for Pandora users and others in the music and steaming industries and expand on brand activations and experiences like Pandora’s SXSW activation earlier this year that used facial recognition to create personalized audio clips for attendees.

Pandora CMO Aimée Lapic said the brand will rely on Minor’s previous experience in brand storytelling, public relations, live events and social media to help drive the Pandora brand to the next level. “By bringing all of these teams under Brad’s direction, we will ensure a clear and consistent voice across all of our brand touch points—maintaining and extending Pandora’s leadership position in our industry,” Lapic said in a statement.

Minor previously served as managing director of brand, advertising and media for JPMorgan Chase & Co. In that role he was credited with launching the Chase Sapphire Reserve Card and kicking off major ad campaigns for the card starring James Corden. Minor has also held positions at major brands including American Express, where he worked across the brand on sports, music, small business and digital efforts. At Amex, Minor also helped relaunch the brand’s platinum card and spearheaded over 50 entertainment partnerships with Soul Cycle, NBA and Ticketmaster, among others.

“As the company charts the next phase of growth, I’m thrilled to work with the teams here to bring the magic of Pandora to life, and to drive deep and engaging experiences for our listeners,” Minor said in a statement.

Pandora has also made headlines for launching an Insights Lab in early October, adding three new audio ad formats for clients and opening up an audio programmatic marketplace in July.
