Panasonic Division Taps Phelps

Panasonic Broadcast and Television Systems Co. has consolidated its advertising account at The Phelps Group.
The Santa Monica, Calif., agency will develop and implement a fully integrated marketing communications program for the client. PBTSC, the professional products division of Matsushita Electric Corp. of America, provides digital video and audio electronics equipment for the broadcast, post production, video, audio and presentation markets. Billings are estimated in the $3-5 million range.
“We selected The Phelps Group because of their creative talents and integrated marketing communications capabilities,” said Stuart English, client vice president of marketing. “They are capable of creating and executing campaigns in both the traditional and new-media segments, and that’s very important to us.”
PBTSC recently relocated its marketing and customer service operations from Secaucus, N.J., to Los Angeles. Its advertising had been handled by various shops, including Phelps.
“Panasonic is leading the way in digitizing the film and video industries,” said Joe Phelps, agency chief executive. “They moved to the West Coast to be at the industry’s epicenter.”
The Phelps Group will provide research, positioning, advertising, public relations and interactive services. Keith Zivalich is the agency’s team leader on the account. His team will report to English and Rick Albert, PBTSC’s director of product marketing, and Jim Wickizer, national manager, marketing services. K
