OWN&P Stays Hot With 3 More Account Wins

Fresh from winning the Lucky Jeans account, Odiorne Wilde Narraway & Partners has picked up three more accounts in the past month, adding $5 million more in billings.

The San Francisco agency last week said it had won $4 million in media duties for Grand Marnier liquor; a project for Nelvana Ltd., a children’s animation company; and ad duties for the San Francisco Exploratorium, which was formerly handled by Saatchi & Saatchi’s now-defunct San Francisco office.

The trio of wins came after reviews and at a time when many other agencies haven’t picked up any business in months.

“We’ve put a lot of energy into new business … instead of retrenching and waiting for bad times to pass,” agency president Wayne Buder said. “We’ve invested heavily in the new-business machine. Plus, we had a dose of good luck, which you always need.”

OWN&P pitched Grand Marnier against Pedone & Partners, Five Communications and Weinreb Partners, all New York. The assignment includes planning and buying for print, out-of-home and integrated media. The incumbent was Deutsch, New York.

“Odiorne had a strong understanding of both our consumer and trade targets. … We are excited to partner with them to continue our growth,” said Steve Hissam, senior brand manager at the liquor company.

The Nelvana and San Francisco Exploratorium accounts are worth a combined $1 million in billings.

OWN&P pitched Nelvana against two undisclosed shops. The shop will design a campaign for a new animated series called “Medabots.”

The agency pitched the Exploratorium against undisclosed San Francisco agencies.

OWN&P specializes in advertising for the 18-to-34-year-old market. With offices in San Francisco and London, it has $65 million in billings and 60 employees. Its other clients include Electronic Arts, Customatix and Embarcadero Center.
