Olive Jar Studios is taking root on the West Coast after being acquired last week by Red Sky, Los Angeles.

“We are keeping our presence in both cities,” said Matthew Charde, executive producer at Boston-based Olive Jar. “We were ready to take the next step.” Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Currently headed by Charde and Fred Macdonald, creative director/CEO, Olive Jar opened in 1984 and first made a name for itself animating clay logos used by MTV.
