O’Kane to Head Bloom Media

DALLAS-Publicis/Bloom here brings another top executive into its fold with the hiring of Colleen O’Kane as senior principal and media director.
O’Kane was hired out of Kansas City, Mo., where she operated her own media shop and formerly served as media director at Valentine Radford. She will begin at Publicis/Bloom’s offices next week, according to agency co-chairman Steve Price.
“We’ve been conducting a very active search really for several months now,” said Price. “We talked to a lot of candidates . . . and she really just kind of rose to the top immediately.”
O’Kane’s arrival at Publicis/Bloom marks the second senior principal added recently to the agency’s management staff. Executive creative director Pat Burnham was signed in August to assume day-to-day command in that area. Co-chairman Seth Werner shares top management duties with Price.
O’Kane’s experience includes work for clients like Procter & Gamble, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Marriott, Kimberly-Clark, BellSouth, Pizza Hut and Hallmark Cards. She has served stints at Chicago agencies Leo Burnett and D’Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles.
Former Publicis/Bloom senior media executive Pat Dermody left the agency in March to join DDB Needham in Chicago.
“I was really looking for an opportunity to become part of a successful and aggressive team playing on a national level,” O’Kane said in a statement.
Price said O’Kane will not be coming in to overhaul the media department, which he said is fully staffed. Although the department occasionally handles media-only accounts, it will primarily remain a component in the $170 million shop’s full-service approach to clients, according to Price.
