Northrop Grumman has selected mcgarrybowen to handle creative and media duties on its advertising account after a review, sources said.

The incumbent, Interpublic Group’s McCann Erickson in Los Angeles, defended the business, said sources. The client also met with Arnold, but the Boston-based Havas shop withdrew several weeks ago, according to sources. McCann has handled the account since 2000.

Sources on Wednesday estimated annual media spending at more than $30 million. In an e-mail Thursday morning, a client representative disputed that figure, described it as “incorrect” and said the company had yet to complete its process.
