Jordan Brand swooshes in with a high-quality comic celebrating sneaker culture, new school woes and Black and Brown teenage life. After Nike’s salute last month to mothers with its new activewear line, the related Jordan Brand looks now to their daughters with MariSole, an exclusive online webcomic that lives on the brand’s SNKRS app.

The planned multi-issue series is penned by award-winning Afro-Latina writer Jamila Rowser with artwork by Jamaican cartoonist Robyn Smith, the artist who previously worked with Rowser on her Kickstart-funded breakthrough comic Wash Day.

The first issue of MariSole is now complete, originally released in three chapters last week under the title “Nu School, Same Shooz.”
