NORTHBROOK, ILL. – Nielsen Marketing Research signed a letter of intent to acquire a 20% stake in Scanner Applications, a scanner-based promotions company based in Cincinnati. Nielsen will have the option to acquire the company for up to $20 million. It will remain a separate operating division, and the two companies will share Nielsen’s information collections and data processing. Separately, Nielsen and Colgate-Palmolive signed a long-term agreement covering data and software services, expanding their existing relationship.
