When the average age of a National Football League player is 26 and the average age of the league’s viewers is 50, there can be some disconnect over what constitutes an NFL “star.”

The NFL’s two-minute Super Bowl ad, scheduled right before halftime, featured a lot of familiar, middle-aged faces. Peyton Manning, Deion Sanders and even the late Walter Payton joined current players in emerging from a video game screen and running plays in a family living room and pool.
