Group Challenges Bush on Iraq

washington The liberal political interest group aired an ad last week that accused President Bush of using the Sept. 11 attacks as an excuse to invade Iraq. The ad was timed to coincide with last Thursday’s testimony of National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice before the 9/11 Commission.

WASHINGTON A John Kerry Internet ad launched last week pokes fun at President Bush by depicting him as a young man who can’t balance his own budget. The spot features a voice imitating Bush in school, talking to his teacher about a math problem. Viewers only see the image of written figures on a chalk board. The teacher reminds young Bush that he forgot to pay for his tax cut, prescription drugs and Social Security. “When I’m president, I’m gonna spend as much money as I want,” the young Bush says. A voiceover responds, “And that’s exactly what George Bush did.”

Study: Ads Have Little Impact

washington The first ads from President Bush and John Kerry in the general election have not significantly changed the public’s attitudes toward the candidates, according to a study released last week by the University of Pennsylvania’s National Annenberg Election Survey.
